Weeeeeeee'reeeee back. Bananas & DFlowered, the prodigal East Bay hashers,
are back with the usually-annual (except for 2008) Uber-Hill Hash in Garin
Park. This time, it's summer (instead of spring)... but we lllooooooove
hills in any season! Start: Garin Regional Park (of course!), at 1320
Garin Ave, Hayward CA 94544. We'll be in the top (most northern) parking
lot. The kiosk says it's $5 per vehicle and $2 per dog, but collection is
spotty - sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not. Bring cash just
in case, or leave cars in the residential area below on Garin Ave & carpool
into the park (it's a big hill tho, fair warning).

Time: 1pm, Sunday May 24th 2009 Hares: Bananas & DFlowered OnOnOn: There
are great picnic tables at Garin, if we have any BBQ volunteers... if not,
we'll hit Chaiyo (formerly Tammada) Thai, 1640 Decoto Road in Union City,
CA 94587. This is a great little place on the east side of the strip mall
(see map link below).

Notes: There will be a turkey/eagle split, beer & water check, and poison
oak. For a DF/Bananas run, this one is relatively mild with P.O... unless
you try to shortcut. This will be a dog-friendly hash, but not so
stroller-friendly. There are many bovines in this section of the park, so
if your dog(s) might be inclined towards cow-chasing, you may want to bring
a leash to keep them out of kicking/stomping range of any mean momma cows.
And bring water. It'll be hot Hot HOT!

Misdirections to the Start: North of Hayward take 580E to Hayward.
Take exit #34/CA 238 onto Foothill Blvd toward Hayward (2.4 miles), which
bears Left and becomes Mission Blvd (continue 3.5 miles). Turn Left on
Garin Ave, go to the top of the hill, enter the park, and the parking lot
is on the left just after the kiosk. South of Hayward take 880N toward
Oakland, then take exit #24/Whipple Road/Industrial Parkway (for those of
you coming from the peninsula, this is just north of the Dumbarton Bridge),
and continue onto Industrial Pkway (2.3 miles). Turn Right on Mission Blvd
(go .2 miles) and turn Left on Garin Ave, go to the top of the hill, enter
the park, and the parking lot is on the left just after the kiosk.

Public Transit: Traveling by BART, come the the South Hayward Station and
connect with AC Transit bus #21. Take #21 to its stop at the foot of Garin
Avenue on Mission Boulevard. From there the park entrance is slightly less
than one mile uphill (steep). From the Union City BART Station, take AC
Transit bus #21 north to its stop at Tamarack Drive and Mission Boulevard.
From there it is about one-third mile to the trailhead. If you are a
confirmed bus rider coming from Oakland, take the AC Transit bus #82 to the
Hayward BART station. Connect there with the #21 line to the Mission
Boulevard and Garin Avenue stop.

Did I mention... bring water!
